Scumbag Deveplopers - Parents Read

Postby Dsoto87 » Sat Jul 14, 2012 10:29 pm

So I just wanted to give all the parents of young children out there a heads up.

If youre a parent Im sure youve let your young one play games on your phone. Maybe youve even gone so far as to let them download what they want to play. I am one of those people. My kids have never had an issue with downloading paid applications and Ive constantly stressed to them to stay in the "free" section.

Recently though, after checking my bank account, I noticed a few separate charges totaling almost $100. Guess what the charges say... GOOGLE *FREE APPS GOOGLE.COM/CHCA -$49.99 .... Ironic dont you think?

It was my wifes kindle that my youngest had been playing with. I checked all the apps wondering what he could have possibly bought. Every app was coming up clean. So far, no app even had the ability to purchase anything. That was until I came to the end. YUMMY BURGER KIDS COOKING GAME. Sounds innocent enough. I opened it up and was stunned. Its free to download but your immediately asked to make purchases. Any purchase made requires no authorization. Just another press of a button and it goes through. The way the app is designed, a kid would have no clue theyre even making a purchase. Its laid out in a "cute" restaurant menu style page.

So some of you may be saying, "its your fault, you should have been watching." Quite correct. I learned my lesson. So let my mistake be a lesson to you all. Though I trust my kids not to download inappropriate or paid apps, I SHOULD be keeping a more watchful eye over them. With that said, I still feel the developer of these "KIDS" apps is a douche. The app is designed in a way to get your children to make these accidental purchases, and once made, well, too bad your fault. I have never come across another app that makes purchases so ridiculously EASY. Every app with in-app purchases comes up with multiple pages where you can always go back. With this though, any accidental press may end up with you paying through the nose.

Check the app out for yourself ( ). Check all the one star reviews. See how many other people have been victimized. I dont know why this is allowed. So what did I end up paying nearly $100 for?
$8 For "Kids stand mode"...
$35 for "Cheats"
$50 To "Unlock All"...
I cant even figure out what "Cheats" does!!!

Thank god $100 wont make or break me. But read some of those reviews. Youll see a few are single moms where $100 spent can completely ruin their budget. A request for a refund was sent a week ago, and I havent even received so much as a simple "NO". I read the reviews on a few of the other devs apps and they seem to be the same case.

Sorry to bore any of you. I just needed to vent.

Did you report that to Google. That's just screwed up that they can trick you into purchases that cost that much.

Not sure how I go about doing that.

And judging by the reviews, if Google hasn't done anything yet, doubt they're going to do anything about it. I'm pretty sure it's the dev that's padding his reviews also.

If that happened to me I would dispute the charges immediately. Not sure if that would be considered a bait n switch or some form of scam. Either way dispute it with your CC company. The sooner the better. Just say they were unauthorized transactions. In a sense it was because you had no knowledge of it and these purchases were illegally charged by a child.

There's got to be an option in the play store to report ill check and report back that's ridiculous.

Yea I think I may do that. I've never had to dispute charges before, but this is a bit ridiculous. No honest dev would charge the amounts that this guy is asking for.

Set up a PIN number for purchases to make buying at least somewhat more secure.

I actually did after this. I never knew the setting was even there. Does this still block in app purchases?

Yeah my wife for charged $10 of in app purchases in a 'kids' game also. Funny thing is, if you just click a point it charges you instantly. Insane. Fuck these devious devs.

according to Dsoto87 this wasn't any menu liket this, however if this guy lives in US hes screwed, if not report the app

specially when;

PHONE CALLS
READ PHONE STATE AND IDENTITY
Allows the app to access the phone features of the device. An app with this permission can determine the phone number and serial number of this phone, whether a call is active, the number that call is connected to and the like.

to report the game you have to be on the Google Play store on cell/Tab,

Go to game and at the bottom it will say flash as inproper, and give the reason and write a review

Pardon me...
But if the game do make phone call permission and make unknown transaction which phone call based then it would not enlisted as credit card transaction... But as phone billing...

Holy crap.... report, report, report. That is unbelievably deceitful. I would definitely recommend filing a CC dispute (as others suggested) and flagging this app. Google shouldn't even hesitate to rip this app out of the app store (although who knows how they'll respond).

Scam f*****!!! To report, in Google Play store find this shit game and scroll down till end, there is a button that says "Flag as inappropriate". Use that and mention your reason.
